can't stay away

Been laying off this blog for awhile. Friends who know me well would generally agree that I tend to get excited quickly over new experiences, but novelty also wears down on me pretty fast as well.

Recently some of my former accounting students treated me to a dinner at a household name steak restaurant. Such gatherings are truly precious and memorable when you realised that through your devotion and love of the job, you have helped your students in achieving their live long dreams. It was also during our chatters and laughters that some of them told me that they have read my blog and urged me to continue. So, this is one of the reasons why I am here now.

So, what happened during these past 8 months? I have good and sad memories. My beloved father passed away recently. He was brought up in the Confucious traditions. Loyalty, obedience and hardwork are his philosophies. At home he was a strict disciplinarian, like an Army General. Things must fall in the right order and life should not be complicated; all pieces must fall into the right places and order. On growing up, often I thought to myself why was my father so quiet and aloof towards his children? If he wanted to know the well beings of this children, he would not ask us directly, but only through our mother. Later in life I realised that my father is not the type who shows his emotions in public, he would always maintain a dignified outlook. He must have known his limitations and kept his silence in knowing there were things he could not do for us. His is the type who would rear chickens for festive seasons. The juicy tender chickens are not for our own family consumption, but for his relatives and freinds. We could have the ood tough chickens instead. All his friends loved him!

My younger daughter has passed her CA exams and is anxiously awaiting the completion of her articleship contract. She has not told me her career path yet. I hope her future is as bright and smooth as passing her exams.
